Descriptions:

• Motto "MALANG KUCECWARA" means"God will dissolve the incorrect way and will maintain the kindness".

• The colors mean:

• Red White is the symbol of Indonesian flag
• Yellow means glory and greatness
• Green means prosperity
• Light blue means loyality to God, country and nation

• Five angular formed of shield means heroic fighting spirit, geographic condition, number of mountains, and spirit of development to achieve prosperous and fair community based on Pancasila.

DPRDGR fixed the symbol of Malang City on The Local Policy (Perda ? in Bahasa) Number 4 Year 1970

The symbol was noted "MALANG KUCECWARA"

That slogan was used since the first anniversary of Kota Praja Malang on 1964, before it had been used:

"MALANG NAMAKU, MAJU TUJUANKU"

translated from:

"MALANG NOMINATOR, SURSUMMOVEOR"

which had legalized with "Gouvernement besluit dd. 25 April 1938 N. 027". That slogan was proposed by Almarhum Prof. DR. R. Ng. Poernatjaraka and very related with the beginning story of Malang City in Ken Arok era.
