Vision and Mission

City Government of Malang develops the city based on Local Development Program (PROPEDA ? in Bahasa) in which is noted The Vision of Malang City as follow:



Autonomous means a hope that Malang could develop the whole government program with its city budgeting and local resources (natural resources and human resources) in the future.

Civilized means the implementation of local autonomy will always place the God value forward as well as the humanism value and social life value in Malang City. The important one is to develop education in order to anticipate development of Malang towards a metropolis city.

Prosperous means the implementation of development would be directed to improving the quality of life of people materially and spiritually.

Environmental mind set means the implementation of local autonomy would always try to maintain the natural sustainability and quality of environment also human settlements in Malang.

Missions

Here are the missions of Malang in fulfilling the vision of Malang in the period of 2004 - 2008 :

• Fulfilling Malang as the city of education trough improving the quality of education for urban poor;
• Fulfilling Malang as Healthy City trough improving the community heath for vulnerable people such as urban poor and increasing the city greening and conservation;
• Fulfilling spirit and reformation idealism in recovering urban economy towards the New Indonesia based on: state with strong foundation of system, foundation of economy, social and culture which is spirited by principals of democracy and social justice in achieving the peach life;
• Fulfilling the proposed points of reformation in the political and governance system also development paradigm based on : national insight, democracy, unity, local autonomy, faith, morality, human rights and social justice;
• Fulfilling the implementation of reformation trough improving the public administration and public policy administration by the spirit of solidarity in pluralistic community, collaborating together as civil society movement;
• Making the poverty reduction as a main priority of development in improving the social welfare and educating the life of nation;
• Empowering optimally the human potency, strategic geographic position, and adequate natural resources for developing people in Malang and contributing for the nation welfare.
