It is undeniable that many movements occur in Malang make national public awaked from social rigidity which happened from time to time. Those movements can be from sport, education, society and culture, till democracy sector. So that people of Malang must be avowed that they have a certain characteristic in context of socio-cultural of Indonesian in recent time.

In the early independence, Bung Karno was in Malang and affirmed that all kinds of imperialism must be eliminated completely in this world therefore in the first congress of KNIP that was being one of big movements which waved the international world. Far before that happened, Ken Arok had been waved Java with his fighting movement towards regime government of Tunggul Ametung and built basis of people as part of power.

Moreover in the hundred years before, the king of Gajayana had been engraved ancient inscription of “wisdom” that is Dinoyo inscription which the oldest ancient inscription in Indonesia.

Nowadays, in this modern era Malang keeps being the national coverage not just because being the inspired city, rich of regeneration idea but also being the city which gets a lot of national and international achievements. In obtaining those achievements is not easy yet it is done successfully. The essential meaning of achievement is the acknowledgement of other people of our commitment and also for our extra enthusiasm in facing the future.

There are many development programs in Malang which become sample in national level for example the program of reforestation of Malang Ijo Royo-royo, the usage of IT in public serving and the transparency in license serving of national sample library, the strategy of UKS management, the development of Vocation city, Jardiknas, and so on.

I thought that Malang is one of icon of city in Indonesia which suitable to publish to the whole world. Moreover Malang’s people are type of open-minded society, accommodative, and lenient towards differences. Therefore peacefulness will always be in this lovely city. I am sure that Malang will always in progress and create something that always be a role model to national public so that this country will amazed about this city.
